Central Alabama, USA. It us a centipede lawn. I have a lawn company that comes out 8 times a year for treatment but this just started a week or two ago. Anyone seen this before and know how to correct it?

  1. It’s oddly rock shaped.

Stick a pitchfork down there and see if you hit anything.

  2. It’s an impression of your lawn technician’s body where he lay down to smoke and rest, but forgot he had residual weed killer on his clothes. (No offense meant toward him, but his squatty body resembles an ape, yes?)

I would suggest it could be grubs. You could easily check if you have grubs right there with a shovel and 5 minutes.

Need someone from r/whatismycookiecutter to come have fun with this one.

Well, it’s dead anyway, dig some up.

Looks like the outline of mothman maybe he sleeps there at night

Looks like one of those alligator or turtle-shaped toddler pools. Any chance one was left out?

Do the dead pieces pull right out like there are no roots?

    I’m worried about grubs.

Looks like NES Mario. All 8bit of him.

  10. If you’ve had a large amount of rain it may be root rot.

  11. I’d agree with the grub comments, dig up a 12:12 square of sod and check

Too much lime with the body you buried.

Looks like it could be a petrol spill, if they were filling up any machinery over the lawn this will happen.

  14. I’m in coastal Alabama and my lawn care company over sprayed MS Turf in last month’s visit and it absolutely murdered my centipede everywhere he over treated it. It was full and lush green and a week later 100% dead all the way down to the soil. Thankfully we have been getting tons of rain so I already have new growth poking back through but we are getting close to the end of the growing season so it will probably look like doo doo until next year. I never want that crap sprayed in my yard again.

  15. Is your zone in the forest moon of Endor? Because an Ewok definitely died right there.

When we lived in SC our lawn guy said it was fungus when our centipede lawn had this.

Pretty sure at some point in time someone’s parachute didn’t open and the spot where the landed is still showing up in the lawn.
